Preschool Craft- Week One

Week One- The Most Holy Name of Mary (September 12th)

Story time: "An Alphabet of Mary" by: George and Brenda Nippert

Craft: Watercolor Painting

This is a very simple craft, both to prepare and for the children to do.

What you need:
- watercolor paper
- paper cutter
- coloring page
- copy machine
- permanent marker
- watercolor paint

First, you will need to trim your watercolor paper so that it is 8.5 x 11 inches. I used a regular piece of paper as my guide and then trimmed it with my paper cutter.

Second, print out your coloring page. Since this craft is for the Most Holy Name of Mary, I chose this beautiful coloring page from Waltzing Matilda.

Third, you will make copies of the coloring page, but use the watercolor paper. Print out one for each student.

Forth, you will need to trace over the design with a permanent marker. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! It's very important because the children will be using very wet paint and you do not want the ink to bleed.
My Sharpie ran out of ink, so I did a test on one of the pages without it being traced. Guess what? The toner ink doesn't bleed! One less step. Hooray!

Now your craft is prepared! The preschoolers will get to paint a beautiful picture in honor of our Blessed Mother's holy name.
